Workflow

  1. Create Pay Type
  2. Setup Job Order Template

1. Create Pay Type

  1. Payroll --> Pay Type
  2. Add New
  3. Fill in the necessary information
  4. Save

Points to note

  1. "Sequence Number" is for the ordering sequence that the Pay Types will be shown on the payslip.
  2. "Has unit rate?"
    • Select it if your pay type is like Basic Salary or Leave Pay, with Pay Rate and Pay Unit.
    • Don't select it if your pay type is just like Bonus or Commission, with amount only.
  3. "Is Cash?"
    • Select it if your pay type is like Basic Salary or Leave Pay, really part of what you receive.
    • Don't select it if your pay type is just like MPF Employer Contribution, something that is not part of what you really get.
  4. "Is Gross Salary?"
    • Select it if your pay type is like Basic Salary or Leave Pay, part of the Gross Amount.
    • Don't select it if your pay type is just like MPF Contribution, will be calculated after the Gross Amount.
  5. "Is hidden?", select it only when you DON'T want that Pay Type appears on the payslip.

2. Setup Job Order Template

  1. Payroll --> Job Order Template
  2. Open the existing Job Order Template
  3. Click into each pay type and check/amend the settings
  4. Save

Points to note

  1. "Is Active?", select it if you want the pay type to be active.
  2. "Is Basic Salary", select it for Basic Salary only.
  3. "Is Overtime Salary", select it for OT Pay items only. It will affect the ADW calculation on the OT part.
  4. "Is Relevant Income", select it if it is part of the relevant income for calculating MPF.
  5. "Is Taxable", select it if the pay type is taxable. Remember to choose the "Hong Kong IR56B Income Type" and "Hong Kong IR56M Income Type" as well.
  6. "Is Disregarded Wage", select it if you want that Pay Type amount to be EXCLUDED from the ADW calculation. E.g. 4/5 Maternity Allowance.
  7. "Is Disregarded Days", select it if you want the number of days of that Pay Type to be EXCLUDED from the ADW calculation. E.g. 4/5 Maternity Allowance.
